Compulsive Obsession Syndrome Treatment

I focus on your nicotine addiction, following the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and assess the addiction from several perspectives, including physical, mental and emotional issues.

My treatment plan is to support you in the acute phase of withdrawal, and improve your success to quit your nicotine habit.

If you have ever attempted to quit, you know there are multiple withdrawal symptoms that can be experienced. These may include insomnia, fatigue, feeling jittering, cough, tightness in the chest, dry mouth, constipation, irritability, depression, anxiousness and lack of concentration.

I routinely address those issues therapeutic, so improvements in such symptoms are commonly experienced. Commonly, patients experience a decrease in cravings, changes in sensory perception as the taste and smell of cigarettes becomes intolerable, and an increased state of calm and relaxation comes into place.

What does the treatment involve?

~ The acupuncture program for smoking cessation consists of 6 -12 visits. At your first appointment, you fill out a detailed questionnaire that gathers information about your history and health background. The form helps us to identify the behaviors, habits and triggers that lead to smoking.

~ Also a physical exam including blood pressure and exams from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) such as pulse palpation and tongue observation are performed. Your treatment is tailor-made and designed especially for you.

~ Acupuncture can reduce the cravings and lessen the withdrawal symptoms associated with your efforts to quit smoking.

~ The acupuncture treatments for the “COST” program are spaced out over two to six weeks, usually three treatments the first two weeks, and then two to one treatments the weeks thereafter.

~ Usually combinations of body- and ear acupuncture points are used. After the needles are inserted, you will relax for about 30 minutes.
